When promising, some customers don't want to go beyond a general "next day" parcel concept. While it's possible to add carriers and use those in promising, our customers don't need that level of accuracy. Rather, they look at something like UPS's zone depth to say "next day," "two day" and "longer than two day". We permit them, via EDI input flags, to set parcel zone depth. And, while we've replicated our legacy OMS rules in Stering OMS rules, it's complex to maintain. In addition, the place to hold the data already exists in the YCS_CARRIER_ZONE table. There's simply no connection between them without creating custom code via a user exit.
How will this idea be used?
It will be used to replace thousands of custom sourcing rules and to adhere to a more standard way of dealing with carrier service levels.
